Storm leaves snow, school and community closures in its wake

ENID — A winter stormed dumped snow on Enid and closed schools in the area, including the Enid district, Sunday night.

Garfield County Emergency Management Director Mike Honigsberg reported an average of 2.5 inches of snow accumulated in the Enid area.

Roadways across Woods, Alfalfa, Grant, Major, Garfield, Blaine and Kingfisher counties are slick and hazardous, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol's Troop J, which is located in Enid. Troop J officials are not recommending driving.

City of Enid reports public works crews began spreading salt and sand on main thoroughfares around 8 p.m. last night. Click HERE for city of Enid snowplow routes.

Wheatheart meal delivery in the area has been canceled for the day.

The forecast for today calls for a continued chance of drizzle or freezing drizzle before 10 a.m. and then mostly cloudy with a high of 38. Southwest wind will be 13-21 mph.

Tonight's National Weather Service forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and a low around 23 with west wind at 8-11 mph, becoming calm.

Highs Tuesday and the remainder of the work week are forecast to reach into the 50s.

Skies will be mostly sunny, with a south wind at 5-8 mph.
