ENID, Okla. —
Sheriff Jerry Niles is warning motorists in the county to exercise caution Saturday as hundreds of bicyclists take to the roads for the annual Tour de Trykes event.
The eighth annual Tour de Trykes will begin at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at David Allen Memorial Ballpark. It includes a 2-mile family ride, as well as 14-, 16-, 26- and 42-mile rides and a 100-kilometer ride.
Those tours will travel heavily used roads, such as Chestnut, Breckinridge, Purdue, Randolph, Broadway, Maine, 30th and 66th.
“Bicyclists will be out on many roads and rural roads in Garfield County,” Niles said. “The Enid Police Department and sheriff’s office will be working to ensure the safety of our bicyclists.”
The sheriff said motorists need to plan for extra bicycle traffic Saturday and share the road.
