EPIC Youth Conference slated for Monday

Enid News and Eagle

ENID, Okla. — Youth Opportunity Task Force  and Enid Metropolitan Area Human Services Commission will host the EPIC Youth Conference on Monday at Central Christian Church.

Youths ages 13-15 will be invited to participate in an all-day event focused on empowering young people with good information on how to be a better friend, how to help others in the community and how to be safe and healthy

The conference will kick off at 10 a.m. with registration starting at 90 a.m.

The event is free, and there will be activities planned throughout the day with discussions on issues that are important to youths in our community with local experts from PreventionwWorkz, Enid Police Department, YWCA, National Guard, Community Development Support Association and others.

The EPIC Conference will include snacks and giveaways all day, and youths are encouraged to ask questions, be loud and have fun.

“We are really excited to offer this conference to youth in our community,” said Tracey Polson, YOTF staff. “As a committee, we felt that providing an opportunity for young people to meet with local experts to receive good information would help youth live healthier and more productive lives. Young people are inundated with bad information all of the time from television, the Internet and others giving bad advice.

“Hopefully, the topics we will discuss can help answer questions, empower young people with information to make good decisions and connect youth to important people in our community that can help if needed in the future.”
