‘The Star of Bethlehem’ will play for 3 nights at NOC Mackie Planetarium

ENID, Okla. — Night Sky for December

Dec. 3: New Moon

Dec. 9: First Quarter

Dec. 17: Full Moon (Moon before Yule, Long Night Moon)

Dec. 25: Last Quarter

Saturday, Dec. 21, is the Winter Solstice. So days are the shortest and nights are the longest.

The Northern Oklahoma College Mackie Planetarium is open to the public at 6 p.m. the first Thursday of each month. Admission is free, but a donation of a canned good or non-perishable food item for the Horn of Plenty is appreciated.

The program “The Star of Bethlehem” will be shown three times — Thursday night, Dec. 12 and Dec. 19, with two shows a night beginning at 6:30 p.m. and again at 8.

Due to the holiday season, the NOC Observatory will be closed for public viewing. It will reopen Thursday, Jan. 16, weather permitting. Sessions start at 6 p.m.

Large groups planning to visit the observatory or planetarium in groups of 15 or more should schedule an appointment by calling 548-2399.
