ENID, Okla. —
Members of the Pioneer Area Quilters’ Guild will welcome Donna Skvarla as guest speaker to the Monday meeting at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 1904 N. Pecan.
Skvarla is from Norman and is an American Quilter’s Society-certified appraiser of quilted textiles.
She has been appraising quilts for more than 10 years and has appraised quilts in Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri and Colorado shows, as well as in Houston, Paducah, Des Moines and Lancaster.
Skvarla will present a Retrospective Quilting lecture of 100 Years of Quilts, which includes at least one quilt for each decade from 1850-1950.
She will demonstrate what was popular during each time period, such as a crazy quilt for 1880, a Redwork quilt for 1900, and many more.
Hostesses for the meeting are Linda Sader, Doris Kirk, Mary Lou Winter, Betty Thrash, Nancy Keathly, Karen Hagerdon, Brenda Berman and Karen Yost.
Registration and social hours are 10:30 a.m. to noon.
At 10:30 and 11 a.m., Mary Grace Lebeda will present a short program about Life Share, an organ donor program.
She will have handouts and will display a quilt for Organ Donor Month.
Skvarla’s program will replace the usual stitch and assist.
A short business meeting will begin at noon, followed by show and share.
Skvarla’s program will begin at 1 p.m.
The Pioneer Area Quilter’s Guild meets the first Monday of each month.
