ENID, Okla. —
A Texas man was injured Thursday evening in a collision that diverted traffic on Garriott for about two hours.
Michael Ireland, 32, was in the eastbound lanes of the 100 block of West Garriott when he had a seizure, according to an Enid Police Department report. A witness who was behind Ireland in traffic said she saw him having difficulties.
Ireland’s vehicle then crossed into the westbound lanes before hitting a stop sign at Southwest Railroad. He continued east through the grass in his 2005 GMC Sierra, hit the railroad crossing control shed and continued northeast, coming to rest after hitting the railroad tracks.
Ireland suffered non-incapacitating injuries to his back, legs and ankles, and was taken from the scene by Life EMS to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
Traffic was diverted from the 100 block of East Garriott for about two hours as railroad crews were called to the scene to repair the damage to the control shed.
