Toys for Tots taking applications

ENID, Okla. — Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program has started taking applications for the holiday toy giveaway.

Hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays. Toys for Tots is located one door south of Security National Bank at 108 S. Independence. The last day to sign up for assistance is Dec. 7.

Documents parents or guardians need to sign up are: photo ID of themselves; proof of income for household; proof of residence in Garfield, Major, Kingfisher, Grant and Noble counties, such as a utility bill or rent receipt; and birth certificate or school student ID for each child.

Toys for Tots collection boxes will be placed at more than 100 locations throughout the Enid community. Collection boxes will be in place on Nov. 1.

Toys donated must be new and unwrapped for children newborn through high school. Parents will pick out toys for their children when they come to shop.

All donations are 501(c) (3) tax deductible. Make checks payable to Toys for Tots, in care of Larry Wheeler, local coordinator, 108 S. Independence, Enid, OK 73701.

A volunteer also is available to pick up donations.

Volunteers are needed to help out in all phases of this project. Those wishing to help can call Larry Wheeler at (580) 548-6116.

Toys for Tots annual golf tournament will be Oct. 19 at Pheasant Run Golf Club. This will be a four-person scramble, with lunch provided. Entry for cart and green fee is $60, and the tournament is limited to the first 25 teams. Individuals may sign up for placement on a team. Deadline for sign up is Oct. 17. Call Wheeler to join.
