Billings Wheat Country Festival to begin

BILLINGS, Okla. — The annual Billings Wheat Country Festival will be today.

The Rotary Club pancake breakfast and 5K run both will begin at 7 a.m.

Entertainment includes the Northern Oklahoma College Roustabouts, Breaking For Jesus, Gene Stetnish and Co., Lenita Kennedy, Montra Pittman, Erica Nightengale and other local talent.

Also on the schedule are arts and crafts booths, an Oklahoma Wheat Commission bread-making demonstration, a quilt show, a wool spinning demonstration, lawnmower tractor pulls, a lawnmower poker run, a homemade pie and cake auction, an antique tractor parade, face painting, a cute kid review, kids’ games and horse-drawn carriage rides. Food concessions include Indian tacos, funnel cakes, brisket, hamburgers, baked goods and smoked meats.

Free tours of the Bellmon Library and Renfrow/Miller museums — both listed on the National Register of Historic Places — are scheduled, with homemade bread and wild sand plum jelly available.

Wick’s will provide a big screen television at its newly remodeled business showing the OU-Texas game at 11 a.m. and the OSU-Kansas game at 2:30 p.m.
