ENID, Okla. — Bill and Susie Bristow Phelps, 1958 Northern Oklahoma College graduates, are challenging others alums and friends to step up to the Phelps’ Fundraising Challenge and support Northern Oklahoma College Foundation’s end-of-year Greater Gifts Drive.

The Phelpses have pledged a dollar-for-dollar matching donation of up to $25,000, with their funds going to the William W. and Dorotha L. Phelps Educational Scholarship and Loan Program, which supports students in business administration or engineering.

“The end of 2013 is fast approaching, and some of the NOC Foundation’s most exciting times are just beginning,” said Sheri Snyder, NOCF executive director. “Celebrating 50 years of making a difference, our foundation is growing thanks to the financial support of those who continue to provide assistance to students and programs at NOC. I hope you feel the same way about the college as the Phelpses do by choosing your passion to support, either by giving to the designated Phelps Educational Scholarship and Loan Program, or by giving to a department, program, special project, scholarship fund or loan fund of your choice. Additionally, you can help make sure the college gets full value of the Phelpses’ special $25,000 matching gift.”

NOC has campuses in Tonkawa, Enid and Stillwater and a total enrollment of 5,000 students.

“Private scholarships, loan funds and a growing endowment fund are available to aid students,” Snyder said. “We’ve awarded nearly $100,000 in scholarships to 135 recipients this past year, with an additional $10,000 in loans to 53 recipients.”

The Greater Gifts Drive is an annual fund drive that allows faculty, staff, alumni, friends and businesses to offer support to NOC. Those contributions help give the college the flexibility to invest in faculty and staff, enhance academic programs, strengthen student programs and scholarships, and continue making campus improvements, as well as improve the quality of life on campus.

Tax-deductible donations can be sent to Northern Oklahoma College Foundation Inc., P.O. Box 310, Tonkawa, OK 74653 or submitted using the NOC website,
