Safety, sobriety checkpoints planned

ENID, Okla. — Local law enforcement agencies are teaming up this weekend to conduct safety and sobriety checkpoints in and around the county.

Garfield County Sheriff Jerry Niles the random checkpoints will be operated in the daytime and evening hours Saturday.

Niles said Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, Oklahoma Highway Patrol and other agencies are teaming up as part of a statewide initiative to reduce drinking and driving.

Drivers are urged to use caution and drive defensively over the holiday, Niles said.
