Zion Lutheran Cemetery sets Memorial Day service

A Memorial Day service at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Fairmont will begin at 9 a.m.

 The names of veterans who are interred there will be read during the 20-30 minute service. The Rev. Tim Dorsch will officiate. Those attending are invited to bring a chair if they would like to be seated. The cemetery is located at Rupe and 102nd.



Memorial Day service set Monday at Ames Cemetery

Jaynes-Kennedy American Legion Post of Ames will have a Memorial Day service 10 a.m. Monday at Ames Cemetery, eight and one-half miles south of Meno.

The A-26 “Lady Liberty” will do a flyover.

The service will be presented by local veterans and will feature a speaker, patriotic songs and a remembrance program. The service will end with a three-volley rifle salute and live playing of echo “Taps” by Devin Moore and Emily Buller.

There are 212 veterans buried in Ames Cemetery.



Benefits slated Saturday at Turf Bar

A cancer benefit for Queak Clepper and a memorial for Teddy Clepper will be held Saturday at the Turf Bar, 213 E. Maine. A barbecue will begin at 5 p.m. Cost is $5 a plate. There also will be a 50-50 drawing. Donations and proceeds will be used for medical expenses. Everyone is invited to attend.

Memorial Luncheon set Saturday in Helena

The annual Memorial Luncheon will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Helena Historical Museum on Main Street. Grilled hamburgers, chips, drink and homemade dessert will be served. Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 10 and under. The museum will be open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.



Legion seeks donations for tornado relief

American Legion Post 4 will be accepting donations to be sent to help with tornado relief efforts in Moore.

Donations can be brought to the post, 121 W. Oak, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today. American Legion is working with American Red Cross on the effort.

Monetary donations also will be accepted.
