ENID, Okla. — Northern Oklahoma College did well in an annual public relations competition.

The printing services department brought home first place, third place and three honorable mention plaques from the Oklahoma College Public Relations Association contest.

NOC graphic artist Jamie Haney’s poster design for the Oct. 16 “Dig Pink” Susan G. Komen Foundation fundraiser at Enid won first-place honors in the sports category.

Additionally, Haney’s Mavericks basketball 2012-13 media guide won third-place honors in the sports publication category.

NOC photojournalist Traci Dewey won three honorable mentions — two for traditional photography and one for digitally enhanced photography.

The awards were given at the OCPRA summer conference, held at the Downstream Resort in Quapaw.

“It’s exciting to see Northern recognized among other colleges throughout the state for our work in public relations,” said Randy Long, NOC Printing Services Department director.

OCPRA provides networking opportunities and honors the creative imagination of its members and member institutions in their marketing and public relations efforts.

The OCPRA annual awards competition is designed to recognize outstanding work produced by OCPRA professionals in public relations, development, audio-visual communications, publications, design, periodicals, writing, photography, sports information and alumni programs.

This year, there were 609 entries from 26 institutions.
