Haunted house opens

A haunted house three years in the making will debut Wednesday in Enid.

Nightmare Warehouse, 424 W. Walnut, will be open 7 to 11 p.m. Wednesday in one end of the old Gold Spot Dairy building. Owners are Loren Avery and his son, Matthew.

The haunted warehouse will be open 7 to 11 p.m. weekdays through Oct. 31. It will be open 7 p.m. to midnight weekends and on Oct. 31, Avery said.

Part of the proceeds generated will go to the Enid High School chorus, members of which will help out with the 5,000-square-foot haunted warehouse, he said.

The cost is $8 per person, regardless of age, Avery said. It is not recommended for children under 12 unless they are accompanied by a parent.

“We try to scare people when they aren’t expecting it,” he said.

It has taken the Averys three years to get the haunted warehouse ready, including making sure all fire codes are followed.
