Former mayoral candidate and Enid gentlemen’s club owner Rick Childs was arrested by Enid police early Monday on a complaint of domestic battery, according to police reports.
Childs is accused of attacking his wife, Karen and his cousin, Samuel Wylie, after the two had become involved in a sexual relationship, according to the affidavit.
Officer Timothy Hammer responded to a “domestic in progress” about 3:19 a.m. Monday in the 3200 block of Lookout Drive.
Hammer spoke with Karen Childs when he arrived, and she said her husband said it was “OK” if she had sex with Wylie, according to an Enid Police Department report.
Afterward, however, Childs began calling her names, she said, and packed her clothes and threw them on the lawn, according to the report. She told police he slapped her on the left side of her face and beat up Wylie.
Childs told police he had opened the door and saw the two together, according to the report. He said he became upset and pushed Karen’s face with his right hand open.
He said Wylie jumped up and took a swing at him and they began fighting, the report states.
Hammer saw Wylie on the bed and his “entire head and face was swollen and bleeding. Both of his eyes were swollen shut and Samuel could barely speak,” the report states.
Wylie was taken by ambulance to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, according to the report. Police arrested Rick Childs on a complaint of domestic battery.
Both of Wylie’s orbital bones and nasal cavity were broken, the report states. He also received several stitches and lost a couple teeth.
Childs is free on a $5,000 recognizance bond and is expected to be arraigned at 9 a.m. Friday.
