Okeene Rattlesnake Roundup continues

ENID, Okla. — The 74th annual Okeene Rattlesnake Roundup continues today and runs through Sunday.

Events will be at the old Okeene football field on the east side of town on Oklahoma 51.

The big attractions include the popular Old Smokey Show, the Den of Death, the butcher shop and the carnival. The Old Smokey Show features the history of the hunt and has a number of snakes on exhibit. The Den of Death is where snake hunters bring snakes for display. The butcher shop is where handlers prepare the rattlesnake meat for consumption.

 Today’s schedule is:

• 8-10 a.m. — Boy Scouts pancake breakfast at KC Hall.

• 8 a.m. — Registration for the hunt begins.

• 9 a.m. — Den of Death and butcher shop open.

• 9 a.m. — Car show.

• 11 a.m. — Snake hunt parade.

• 11 a.m. — Jim Bob and Big Willie Memorial Poker Run.

• Noon — Guthrie Gunfighters performance.

• Noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. — Old Smokey Show.

• 1-7 p.m. — Live music.

• 8 p.m. to midnight — Snake hunt dance.

Sunday’s schedule is:

• 8-10 a.m. — Boy Scouts pancake breakfast at KC Hall.

• 9 a.m. — Registration for the hunt begins.

• 9 a.m. — Den of Death and butcher shop open.

• Noon — Horseshoe tournament.

• Noon and 2 p.m. — Old Smokey Show.

• 1 p.m. — Magic Jon the magician.

• 4:30 p.m. — Awards presentation.
