Cimarron Valley Cemetery stockholders meeting is slated Saturday

An annual stockholders meeting for Cimarron Valley Cemetery will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Lacy Community Center.

Cimarron Valley Cemetery, established by pioneers in the early days of Oklahoma Territory, is the largest rural cemetery in the area around Lacy.

Unlike many cemeteries that are mowed just before Memorial Day, Cimarron Valley Cemetery receives mowing and upkeep throughout the year.

Cathy Sturgeon Howard, secretary of the Cimarron Valley Cemetery Association, said the goal is to maintain the cemetery as a peaceful, eternal resting place for loved ones and an enjoyable place to visit.

“It is our hope that the younger generation will step in and help assume the responsibility of the cemetery,” Howard said.

All interested persons are encouraged to attend.
