Watonga woman hurt in crash near Canton

— A Watonga woman was injured Thursday morning in a single-vehicle accident near Canton.

Doris June Franks, 78, was taken to Watonga Hospital and admitted in stable condition with trunk and leg injuries, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.

The accident happened at 11:24 a.m. on Oklahoma 51 one mile east of Canton.

According to the report, Franks was driving a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser east on Oklahoma 51 when she reached down for a peppermint and went out of control.

Her vehicle went into a broadslide, left the road and hit a mailbox, rolling one time and coming to rest on its wheels, according to the report.

She was wearing her seat belt, according to the report, which listed inattention as the cause of the accident.
