Enid StarTek, the next generation, just ‘a rumor’ at this point

ENID, Okla. — Despite Facebook posts about StarTek’s potential return to Enid, a company spokeswoman says the reopening is mere conjecture for now.

“At this point, it is indeed a rumor,” said Rosemary Hanratty, StarTek’s director of marketing and communications. “I will let you know if the situation changes.”

One reader posted the following comment Thursday on the EnidNews Eagle Facebook page:

“So I just got a call from StarTek, looks like they are considering re-opening the Enid location. For those of you who live there, heads-up.”

City of Enid and Enid Regional Development Alliance officials said they have not heard anything regarding the downtown call center’s return.

“We have never wavered in our hope that we can reopen Enid — so you may hear more rumors over the next few months,” Hanratty said. “But I promise I will let you know if any of them become reality.”

Wade Patterson, Garfield County assessor, said the building at 116 E. Randolph is still owned by StarTek USA Inc. in Colorado.

As part of an incentive package to attract and keep the call center in Enid, the city of Enid paid StarTek from economic development funds approved in a vote of residents.
