5 hurt in highway collision

CANTON, Okla. — Five people were injured in a Friday-afternoon collision in Blaine County.

According to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a 1999 Chevrolet driven eastbound on Oklahoma 51 by Cheryl R. Hickman, 65, Seiling, crossed the center line about a mile west of Canton and crashed head-on with a westbound 2012 Ford F150 pickup driven by Brandon Myers, 35, of Oakwood.

Both vehicles came to rest in the north ditch.

Hickman was taken by ambulance to Okeene Hospital, then airlifted to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where she was admitted with trunk and leg injuries. She is listed in stable condition.

Her husband, Kendall K. Hickman, 72, a passenger in the Chevrolet, was taken by ambulance to Watonga Hospital, then airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, where he was admitted with trunk, possible head, and arm injuries. He is listed in stable condition.

Myers, the pickup’s driver, was taken by private vehicle to Okeene Hospital. His wife, Shelby L. Myers, 27, and daughter, Mackenzie E. Myers, 1, were taken by ambulance to Okeene Hospital. All three were treated and released.

Alexis G. Myers, 7, also a passenger in the pickup, did not report any injury.

According to the report, both the Hickmans were wearing their seat belts; in the pickup, only child restraint was in use.
