Australians tour pre-K programs

ENID, Okla. — Enid Public Schools played on an international stage Monday when two visitors came from Australia to tour intergenerational pre-kindergarten programs at The Commons and Greenbrier Village.

Tanya Smart and Tracy Airey, graduate students at Federation University in Australia and fellows of the International Specialised Skills Institute, toured an intergenerational early childhood program at Grace Living Center in Tulsa and also one at Coffeyville, Kan., while they were in the region, said Chris Smith, director of early childhood programs for EPS. Smith said they were working together and researching intergenerational learning.

Smith said the pair seemed to be pleased with what they saw at Enid.

“They seemed to be really excited about the benefits,” Smith said.

Smart and Airey could not be reached for comment.
