Stamp Out Hunger kicks off today

— Letter carriers will leave plastic bags in mailboxes today and are asking local residents for canned food donations.

Filled bags will be picked up from mailboxes on May 10.

The Stamp Out Hunger drive is part of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s Feeding Hope and Letter Carriers’ Food Drive. Canned food donations in Enid will go to the Horn of Plenty.

Needed items are canned meats, meat-based soups, canned fruits, canned vegetables, peanut butter and rice and beans.  

Alva, Cashion, Crescent, Enid, Guthrie, Hennessey, Langston, Medford, Mooreland, Okeene, Watonga, Waukomis and Woodward are among the communities participating in the drive.

Nonperishable food donations may also be dropped off at participating post offices and metro-area fire stations. Monetary donations may be made online at or by calling (405) 600-3131.
