Clerks cited two weeks ago for selling beer to minors during alcohol compliance checks made initial appearances Thursday in Garfield County District Court.
Clerks were cited Sept. 19 after members of Garfield County Sheriff’s Officer and volunteers for PreventionWorkz conducted low-point beer sales compliance checks across the county.
During the check, more than half the stores sold beer to the minors. Those who did were given citations to appear in court Thursday.
Clerks were charged with sale of beer to minor, a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in prison and a fine of up to $500.
Those charged were given recognizance bonds with $500 penal sums and given bond appearance dates in November.
