Quilt entrants wanted for Wheat Festival
The annual Billings Wheat Festival is fast approaching and organizers are in need of quilts for the quilt show to be held at the Methodist Church Oct. 13. Heirlooms to display as part of the festival are being sought. Contact Dawn Canaday at (580) 725-3227 or Rosalie Evans at (580) 725-3567 if you are interested. Organizers asked the quilt have a little history note attached with it and also who the quilt needs to be returned to and who it was made by.
Billings Rotary Club to host pancake breakfast
The Billings Rotary Club will be hosting an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at the Billings Wheat Country Festival Oct. 13. The breakfast will be held in the Billings Community Building from 7-9 a.m. Proceeds from the annual breakfast are used to provide scholarships to deserving Billings High School seniors, provide gifts for the Christmas Angel Tree recipients, awards and meals for the Billings High School Academic Banquet students, candy sacks for the Billings Christmas Parade attendees and many other Billings community and school projects.
Menu for the breakfast includes pancakes, biscuits and gravy, Blue & Gold sausage patty and juice or coffee. Cost is $5 each or $15 per family. The Billings Rotary Club would appreciate your support at this once-a-year fundraising event.
Wood to speak at Alzheimer’s Support Group
Speaker for this month’s Alzheimer’s Support Group meeting will be Diane Wood, program coordinator for the central regional office of the Oklahoma Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
The meeting will be 7 p.m. Monday at NODA Area Agency on Aging, 2901 N. Van Buren.
Wood will discuss caring for someone with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia while also caring for yourself. She has a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy. She completed the geriatrics/gerontology certificate program at OU Health Sciences Center. A caregiver for several family members, she also has worked in the fields of hospice, adult day services and Advantage waiver.
Family and caregivers, as well as anyone interested in learning more about Alzheimer’s or related dementia, is welcome to attend. For more information, call Diana Weber, support group facilitator, through NODA at 237-2236.
Grief seminar slated Saturday at Emmanuel
Celebrate Recovery at Emmanuel Baptist Church is hosting a seminar on grief for CR Regional Leaders. The seminar is open to the public.
The event will be 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday, with continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m. The speaker will be Paula Nevius, a certified grief recovery specialist.
