Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City will screen “The Harvey Girls: Opportunity Bound” at 2 p.m. Saturday. The hour-long documentary will highlight Fred Harvey’s iconic waitresses, who changed the West and the role of women in the workplace.
The film will be followed by a discussion on Harvey Houses in Oklahoma and the restoration of Waynoka’s Harvey House.
Speakers include Suzzanne Kelly, writer of the Harvey Girls entry in the Encyclopedia of Oklahoma History and Culture, and Sandie Olson, director of the historic Harvey House in Waynoka.
