EPS school board meeting agenda includes recognition of Provines, Chautauqua program

ENID, Okla. — The Enid Public Schools Board of Education will meet at 6 tonight at the central office, 500 S. Independence.

On the agenda is recognition of John and Laurel Provine and the Chautauqua-in-the-Schools Program.

The board will consider a number of routine transfers among activity funds and consider declaring two old vehicles, several pieces of kitchen equipment, computer equipment, old furniture, and a 1964 set of large print World Book Encyclopedias as surplus property for disposal.

They will discuss and then vote to approve or disapprove $197,239 in general fund encumbrances, $364,983 in general gund change orders, $765,192 inbuilding fund encumbrances, $3,910 in activity fund for donations and gifts encumbrances, and $84,684 in Garfield County Education Facilities Authority encumbrances.

Board members will discuss and then approve or disapprove the district financial report.

Contracts with Hedges Speech and Hearing Center for speech therapy services to students in the summer and Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services for Enid Public Schools to provide transition-to-work services to students with partial reimbursement from DRS will be taken up.

Change orders to the contract with Timberlake Construction Company for construction of Prairie View Elementary School and a change order to the contract with Heritage Construction for renovation to Monroe Elementary School will be considered.

The change to the contract with Timberlake Construction reduces the cost by $10,500 because of thinner concrete used for the parking lot.

The change order with Heritage Construction would increase the price by $1,426 to account for addition of 135 square feet of vinyl composition tile and 44 lineal feet of vinyl base, and revises flooring in two rooms from vinyl tile to carpet.

The board will consider a resolution transferring the unused balance of the 2010 Transportation Bond Fund to the district’s Building Fund.
