Concert tops opening for Enid Event Center

ENID, Okla. — Enid Event Center’s grand opening now will include a concert by country music singer Gary Allan.

Allan will appear one night only, at 7 p.m. June 23. Logan Mize also will appear. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. May 17 by calling (855) TIX-Enid. Tickets are priced at $32 and $42, with a limited number of VIP tickets at $77. Pre-sale will begin 10 a.m. May 16.

“Gary Allan is someone country fans know and love,” said Keller Taylor, general manager of Enid Event Center.

He said having Allan join Cirque Musica as part of the grand opening celebration will give Enid two different types of shows people will be excited about. Cirque Musica will perform 7:30 p.m. June 27.

Allan has sold more than 7 million albums and has five platinum and two gold albums. He has toured with Brooks and Dunn and Rascal Flatts.

Mize is a Clearwater, Kan., native. In 2012, his second album, “Nobody in Nashville,” went to No. 49 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and No. 15 on Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. He has shared the stage with Lady Antebellum, Eric Church, The Band Perry, Billy Currington, Pat Green, Stoney LaRue and Charlie Daniels Band.

“I’m just as excited as anybody else. This is a great opening opportunity, the fact we get a headliner underscores the validity of this facility,” said City Manager Eric Benson. “Gary Allan is a big name, and we couldn’t be happier with a guy who is on the rise. The rapid rise of his popularity matches the rise of the success of the Event Center.”

Construction of Enid Event Center began in early 2012. The 73,000-square-foot facility has a seating capacity of more than 3,000 for concerts. Other grand opening events include the ribbon cutting June 12 and Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce Business Expo on June 15.

Benson said the time has been relatively short for construction of the Event Center, but it is opening on time.

“We have tremendous capability. The ability to attract and celebrate just about any venue and they are starting to pile up,” Benson said.

Bookings have started for events as far away as 2016. A downtown hotel will be completed in 2014 and is expected to help attract events.
