Letter: The real truth about government spending

Enid News and Eagle

ENID, Okla. — In reply to Gene Lyons’ column Nov. 1, 2013, “Truths of Gov’t Spending,” I have a point or two.

I am 78-years-old and went to school 12 years and learned addition, subtraction and multiplication. I also learned that figures don’t lie, but liars figure.

Also, you liberals are entitled to your own opinion but not your own set of facts.

The fact is, under Obama’s administration, the national debt went from $10 trillion to $17 trillion in five years. All these other figures he quoted do not mean a thing.

Jesus told the Jewish leaders in John 8:41-45 of the Living Bible:

“‘No you are obeying your real father when you act that way.’ They replied, ‘we were not born out of wedlock, our true Father is God Himself.’ Jesus told them, ‘If that were so, then you would love me, for I have come to you from God. I am not here on my own, but He sent me. Why can’t you understand what I am saying? It is because you are prevented from doing so! For you are the children of your father the devil and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning and a hater of truth. There is no truth in him.  When he lies, it is perfectly normal, for he is the father of liars. And so when I tell you the truth, you just naturally don’t believe it.’”

So, Mr. Lyons, you were just asking. I’m just quoting the truth.
