ENID, Okla. —
Covington-Douglas will host a veterans assembly at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Old Gym, along with the help of American Legion Post 190. MSgt. Darlene Cox, in charge of Vance Air Force Base Optical Clinic, will be the speaker.
They will be retiring an U.S. flag. There will be a dinner at the senior center following the assembly with the post paying for all veterans and their spouses. They would love to have any and all who would like to come and share this special day with them.
The 1955 Covington graduating class met at Pizza Hut in Enid on Oct. 28. Those attending included Harold and Betty (Hileman) Welch, Jim and Lloydine (Blandford) Menzer, Aaron and Bert Staerkel, Connie and Mary Ann Avery, Charles and Francis Boepple, Earle and Margaret Wagner, George and Sharrol Kay Kegin, Eldon and Sharon Avery, Melvin and Jodene Carter.
The Covington Historical Society met Nov. 4 at Tri County Senior Center. The group is going to sponsor a car show from 2-4 p.m. Nov. 24 in Covington.
The group is looking for participants to enter cars, tractors or motorcycles. To enter the show you are asked to bring a new Christmas present for a boy or girl.
Bring with your vehicle. More details will be coming. A bake sale also will be held that day along with touring the Covington Museum with a free will offering.
The group will meet again in two weeks on Nov. 18, to finalize details.

Nov. 11, 13, 14, 16: Grades 5-6 basketball teams in Pond Creek for a tournament.
Tuesday: FCCLA District Star events in Enid all day; grades 5-8 basketball vs. Kremlin, 4:30 p.m. at Covington-Douglas.
Thursday: High school academic, 6 p.m. at Drummond.
Friday: Grades 6-12 Social Effects of Social Media at Pioneer from 1 to 2 p.m.
Saturday: High school academic region.
St. John’s Lutheran Church will have a Thanksgiving covered-dish dinner at noon Nov. 24 following Sunday school. Everyone is welcome to attend.
