Leonardo’s reopens this weekend with exhibit

ENID, Okla. — Leonardo’s Children’s Museum and Adventure Quest will reopen Saturday with a new traveling exhibit.

On Sunday, the second annual “Run to Leonardo’s” event will close the Cherokee Strip Celebration.

“Building Buddies, a new, exciting traveling exhibit from the Oklahoma Museum Network, funded by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, arrived earlier this week,” said Executive Director Julie Baird.

The exhibit is an interactive village where young children can play, create, explore and help their “buddies” improve the neighborhood.

“Traveling exhibits are always exciting for us because it is an opportunity to inspire children in a new fun way, in addition to our permanent exhibits,” Baird said.

The new exhibit will encourage children, through hands-on stations, to construct, decorate, paint, tile and more.

Building Buddies will be featured at Leonardo’s for approximately six months.

“Run to Leonardo’s” will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday.

During the event children can participate in games, arts and crafts, face painting and a bounce house.

Children will have the opportunity to design a family flag to use and participate in the land run that will take place at 3:30 p.m. at Adventure Quest.

Leonardo’s will offer free admission to the museum 1-5 p.m. Sunday as part of the Cherokee Strip Celebration.

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Enrollment continues for fall educational outreach programs such as Toddler Art, sponsored by McDonald’s of Enid for ages 24-36 months (with a grown up), beginning Sept. 18; Tools For Home Schools beginning Oct. 4; and Hiland Partners Science Adventure Club for grades 4-8 beginning Oct. 1.

A 20 percent early enrollment discount expires on Sunday. Members and families enrolling more than one child receive additional discounts.

Tickets for Princess Ball, a celebration of dads and daughters, and Mom & Me Masquerade, a celebration of mothers and sons, remain on sale until all the tickets are sold.
