Police: Truck fled after hitting pedestrians

ENID, Okla. — Two people are in the hospital after being hit by a truck Friday night as they crossed an Enid street.

Jesse Presson, 20, and 17-year-old Samantha Kester were hit by a pickup as they were walking near the intersection of Cleveland and Oklahoma at 9:37 p.m. According to police, the driver of the truck did not remain at the scene.

Both victims remain in the hospital at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center. A supervisor at the hospital said Presson is in fair condition. Kester’s mother, Terame Rowe, said the Enid High School senior had surgery Saturday to install a plate in her arm.

“She’s got injuries all over her body,” Rowe said.

Sometime during the night, the family of one of the victims got a tip that eventually helped police identify the truck and two men they believe were involved.

Investigators have yet to determine which was behind the wheel, and there have been no arrests, although police are expecting to press charges soon.

“Everybody’s pointing fingers at someone else, basically,” Sgt. Kevin Bezdicek said.

The truck is described as a four-door 1998 Dodge 1500.
