ENID, Okla. —
As required by law, Enid Police Department is notifying the public about an aggravated sex offender who has moved in Enid.
EPD was notified by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections that Michael E. Martin has been classified as an aggravated sex offender.
Whenever a sex offender classified as aggravated or habitual moves into a residence, the police department of that jurisdiction is required by state statute to notify the citizens of that neighborhood.
There are eight possible offenses that can require a person be classified as an aggravated sex offender, if they were convicted after Nov. 1, 1999.
Habitual offenders are those offenders convicted of two or more sex crimes after Nov. 1, 1997, or those previously convicted with another sex offense conviction after Nov. 1, 1997.
Martin was convicted of lewd molestation on Jan. 6, 2009, in Enid.
Martin is not wanted for any crimes and he has registered as a sex offender with the Enid Police Department.
Martin is a black male, 35 years old, 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 257 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
He currently is residing at 224 W. Ash in Enid, but he will be required to move.
