Kremlin-Hillsdale bond issue Nov. 12

ENID, Okla. — A bond issue will be placed before the patrons of the Kremlin-Hillsdale School District on Nov. 12.

The election will seek voter approval of $8,820,000 in general obligation school bonds to build a new junior high/high school.

The present high school was built in the late 1920s, and has been added onto several times throughout the years.

The current facility has become a chronic maintenance problem (air conditioning units are outdated and can’t get parts, numerous roof leaks, plumbing and electrical problems are routinely fixed or replaced, etc.)

The proposed bond will provide the funds needed to build a new junior high and high school facility.  Included in the new school will be classrooms, climate-controlled gymnasium/auditorium, band room, vo-ag shop and a storm shelter large enough to house all KHS students and staff.

Should the bond pass, taxes will rise approximately 20 percent over the current levels and will remain at that level for 10 years, and then will begin to reduce down. As an example, anyone who paid $100 in property taxes this year, will pay approximately $120 in property taxes, should the bond pass.

Haley Carson and Lee Olmstead were crowned homecoming queen and king prior to the football game Oct. 4. The homecoming court included Connor McCollough, Chantz Tucker, Karlee Bittle and Hannah Wuerflein.

Kindergarteners Aidyn Seek and Chase Pirtle carried the flowers and football.
