‘Kingdom’ set to rock for God in Covington

COVINGTON, Okla. — United Methodist and St. John’s Lutheran churches in Covington are combining to present vacation Bible school.

The theme is “Kingdom Rock, Where kids Stand Strong for God,” and sessions will be 6:30-8:30 tonight through Thursday night at United Methodist Church

Experiments, games, snacks and music are on tap.

A back-to-school pool party, sponsored by First Baptist Church, will be 6-8 p.m. Aug. 4.

School

Enrollment dates for Covington-Douglas Public Schools are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 5 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 6. The first day of school is Aug. 14.

Covington-Douglas fast pitch, pre-season scrimmages will be held Aug. 3 and at Leedey Aug. 6-8.

The team will travel to Perry for a game at 6 p.m. Aug. 12 and host Garber at 6 p.m. Aug. 13.

Chase Harmon, a Covington-Douglas graduate, was named All-American Cheerleader as Oklahoma State University cheerleaders attended a camp July 19-22 in Dallas.

Chase is the daughter of Adam and Brynda Row and Matt and Susan Harmon, of Covington. Grandparents are Buell and Martha Olmstead, Covington, and Don and Vicki Harmon, Orlando.
