Quilt guild meeting slated for Monday

Enid News and Eagle

— P.M. Patches and Pieces Quilter’s Guild will meet from 6-9 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, 200 S. 6th, Ponca City.

The January guild meeting kicks off the new year with its annual service project of making quilts for the Domestic Violence Program of North Central Oklahoma Inc.

A representative from Domestic Violence Shelter came to talk to the guild at the October 2012 meeting. She told about the the shelter, who stays there, and what it does to help the families. She said there are five rooms the mother and children stay in. So the guild has decided to make four twin (68-by-86-inch) and one crib quilt for each room over the year. These quilts will stay with the shelter and in the room to keep on the beds.

For the Monday meeting, those attending are asked to bring their collection of blues and creme fabrics, stash, fat quarters etc to get started. There will be a couple of quilt patterns suggested or you may have one you like to put together. We can gather up the fabrics, patterns and make some quilts.

PM Patches is a learning/teaching guild that emphasizes learning to improve quilting skills through teaching one another and sharing experiences. Members share and learn quilting techniques and have lots of fun doing so. All meetings are open to the public. Members encourage you to visit and bring a friend. Yearly guild dues are collected during the January meeting.

The fiscal year is from January to October. Save these upcoming meeting dates: Feb. 25, March 25, April 22, May 27, June 24, July 22, Aug. 26, Sept. 23 and Oct. 28. There are no guild meetings in November or December.
