Hit-and-run victim's funeral set; driver's bond at $100,000

ENID, Okla. — Bond for an Enid man arrested following a fatality hit-and-run accident on South Van Buren was set Thursday at $100,000.

Enid Police Department arrested Anthony Michael Oller Tuesday night after an investigation into the death of Mary Beth Ward, of Enid, following an 8:26 p.m. collision Tuesday in the 1300 block of South Van Buren.

Funeral for Ward is set for Sunday. Arrangements are with Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.

Charges had not been filed as of noon Friday against Oller, 41, who was arrested on complaints of first-degree manslaughter, leaving the scene of a fatality accident and driving under suspension.

EPD responded Tuesday to a 911 call reporting a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in the 1300 block of South Van Buren. The vehicle and driver involved in the collision left the scene before police arrived.

EPD, Enid Fire Department and Life EMS arrived on the scene to find Ward lying in the northbound lane of South Van Buren.

EPD Capt. Jack Morris said emergency responders administered CPR to Ward at the scene, and she was transported to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 9:07 p.m.

During the investigation, officers received information Oller was driving the 2003 Silver Chevrolet 1500 that struck Ward. After observing Oller’s vehicle, “officers noticed extensive damage to the front of the vehicle,” according to a press release issued Wednesday.

Morris said Ward was not crossing Van Buren at the city of Enid walking trail, located north of Frantz. He said Ward was crossing Van Buren about 100 feet south of the trail crossing when she was struck.

That area is between Cigarette Outlet and Buck’s Wine & Sprits, according to a diagram in the EPD collision report.

Oller’s condition at the time of the accident was listed as “unknown,” according to the Enid Police Department collision report. Unsafe/unlawful contributing factors list “alcohol-DUI/DWI” under the portion for Oller’s vehicle.

A blood sample was taken from Oller and sent for testing.

Morris said police have forwarded their investigation to the district attorney’s office.

Online court records show Oller pleaded guilty in 2008 to felony charges of endeavoring to possess a controlled dangerous substance and driving under the influence of drugs. He also has a prior conviction for driving under suspension.̈
