Fundraiser to benefit woman

ENID, Okla. — The drawing for a raffle to benefit an injured Enid woman will be held Tuesday at Chick-fil-A.

The night also will serve as another fundraiser for Amanda Landwehr, who has spent the past two years battling extensive brain injury.

The fundraiser will be 5:30-8 p.m. The raffle drawing will follow. Winners need not be present to win.

The grand prize is a three-night stay at Cody’s Cabins in Branson, Mo. Second prize is a 32-inch Toshiba HDTV, and third prize is a Kindle Fire.

Another fundraiser is planned for Jan. 19 at The Winery in Ringwood. The dinner, which is by donation, will be calf fries, fish, cole slaw and hush puppies. Music will be provided 8-11 p.m. by Backstage Pass.

Landwehr was riding on the back of a four-wheeler Aug. 17, 2010, when it crashed into a car in the 500 block of West Mulberry. She was ejected and suffered bruised lungs, several large skull fractures and a brain injury.

She was found by Enid Police Department officers lying across the back of the four-wheeler in the 600 block of West Mulberry. She was taken by Life EMS to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center and was admitted in critical condition.

That recovery process has taken Amanda through seven hospitals, and through all available funds.

Family insurance has been maxed out, Crime Victims Compensation Funds from the accident have been depleted, and family 401k plans have been cashed in and expended.

Landwehr returned home Dec. 16 and is continuing to improve, a Facebook page organized for the family said. The family is working with her with on her speech and understanding.

The page also noted her first successful trip Jan. 3 to the doctor’s office. Doctors used to visit Landwehr at home.

Donations can be made to the Amanda Landwehr benefit account at any Bank of the West branch.

For more information on Amanda’s progress, go to the Facebook page Donations for Amanda Landwehr’s Therapy.
