RINGWOOD, Okla. —
A Stillwater man was killed Thursday morning in a single-vehicle accident near Ringwood.
Jared Cody Bedwell, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.
A passenger in his vehicle, Madison Leigh Chaney, 19, of Perkins, was admitted to Integris Bass Baptist Health Center in stable condition with head, arm, leg and trunk injuries, according to the report.
The accident happened at 12:24 a.m. on U.S. 60 just east of the intersection with Oklahoma 58.
According to the report, Bedwell was driving a Buick Rendezvous north on Main Street in Ringwood. He failed to stop at a stop sign and went across the eastbound lanes of U.S. 60. He continued north across the westbound lanes of U.S. 60, then went into the north ditch and hit an embankment. His vehicle overturned one-half time, coming to rest on its top. Both Bedwell and Chaney were ejected, according to the report.
The cause of the accident is under investigation, according to the report, which said neither person was wearing a seat belt.
His brother, Justin, 21, was killed in a vehicle accident in October near Drummond. Funeral arrangements are pending with Fairview Funeral Home.
