ENID, Okla. —
A property owner thwarted an early morning burglary Wednesday in the 7400 block of West Carrier Road, holding one of the three burglars at gunpoint until sheriff’s deputies could arrive.
Steve Eric Boster, 35, was arrested on a complaint of first-degree burglary following the 5 a.m. incident, Sheriff Jerry Niles said.
Niles said the property had been burglarized several times over the past few weeks, the most recent five days prior to Boster’s arrest. The owner of the property and another man had stayed at the property to catch the burglars in the act.
Previous thefts included car parts and other materials taken from a barn.
Niles said at about 5 a.m. Wednesday, the two men heard a noise on the property and found three men. Boster was held at gunpoint, and the property owner fired shots at a fleeing full-sized, American-made pickup, Niles said.
Deputy Jennifer Niles is the lead investigator, and Deputies Zac McElveen and Mike Weber also are investigating.
Anyone having information about the other suspects is urged to call Garfield County Crime Stoppers at (580) 233-6233. Callers may remain anonymous and will not be required to testify. Those with information also may contact Garfield County Sheriff’s Office at (580) 237-0244.∢
