Driver arrested on DUI, driving 4 times legal limit

ENID, Okla. — A 33-year-old Enid man was arrested Thursday evening following a non-injury accident, when police found he was driving under the influence at nearly four times the legal limit.

James D. Henry was arrested on complaints of aggravated DUI and driving under revocation following a 4:54 p.m. collision in the 1600 block of Meadowbrook.

Henry failed three field sobriety tests administered by Enid Police Department Officer Andy Morris, who responded to the collision. During booking, Henry took two breath tests with results of .31 BrAC.

According to an EPD report, officers were sent to the 1600 block of Meadowbrook for a vehicle accident.

When Morris arrived, Henry was standing by his vehicle, which still was in the road. Morris noted in the report Henry had “extremely slurred” speech and was “very unsteady” on his feet. He also noted Henry had “red, squinted eyes” and an odor of intoxicants on his breath.

Henry had left a residence on Meadowbrook, backing into an unoccupied car parked on the roadway, across the street from the residence Henry was leaving.

Morris asked Henry how much he’d been drinking that day, and Henry said he’d had seven to eight shots of whiskey while he was at his ex-girlfriend’s residence, according to the report. Morris asked Henry how long he’d been at the residence, and Henry said he’d been there about an hour.

After failing three field sobriety tests at the scene, Henry was taken into custody. A check of his license showed it had been revoked.
