ENID, Okla. —
The Oklahoma City Thunder organization is teaming with Oklahoma Blood Institute for a holiday blood drive today.
It will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Oakwood Mall. Each donor will receive a commemorative Thunder-themed blood donor T-shirt, while supplies last. One donor will win a pair of lower-level tickets to an upcoming Thunder home game.
“The Oklahoma City Thunder provides great motivation for good-hearted Oklahomans to give, when so many are traveling or involved in holiday activities, and blood donation typically declines,” said John Armitage, M.D., Oklahoma Blood Institute president and CEO. “We’re hoping Oklahomans will rise together so we can all ring in the New Year without concerns about a sufficient blood supply for those who need it.”
If donors prefer, they can forgo the T-shirt to support Global Blood Fund. Oklahoma Blood Institute will redirect funds to the charity assisting blood centers in developing countries.
Oklahoma Blood Institute is the ninth-largest, nonprofit blood center in the United States.
Its donors provide blood needed by patients in all Enid-area hospitals and 140 medical facilities across Oklahoma.
Healthy adults, 16 and older, can give blood every 56 days.
