ENID, Okla. —
A 25-year-old Canton man was injured late Saturday night in Blaine County after his vehicle struck a culvert and rolled, ejecting him.
Javier Chaparro Jr. was taken from the 11:30 p.m. accident, which happened on Oklahoma 58 about four miles north of U.S. 270, by Watonga EMS to Watonga Hospital, where he was admitted for observation with head, body and arm injuries, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.
Chaparro was northbound on Oklahoma 58 in a 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer when his vehicle left the road, hit a culvert and continued across the west ditch, striking a fence, according to the report. The vehicle went through the fence and rolled one time and then flipped end-over-end, coming to rest on its wheels in a field. Chaparro was ejected 15 to 20 feet from the vehicle.
The report lists condition of the driver as “drinking — ability impaired” and the cause of the collision as “alcohol — DUI/DWI.” Chaparro was not wearing his seat belt, according to the report.
