ENID, Okla. —
The Enid City Commission meeting, which had been slated Tuesday under its regular schedule, has been postponed until Oct. 29.
City Manager Eric Benson said a delegation of Sister Cities International representatives from Russia will be in Enid, and want to watch a city commission meeting.
“They want to watch one, and we want them to see it,” Benson said.
The agenda for the meeting is not yet available.
The Russian delegation is sponsored by the Open World Program, which is affiliated with Sister Cities. Andrie Winters, city of Enid grant coordinator and liaison to the Enid Sister Cities board, recently learned of the visit and wrote a grant to host the delegation.
The Russians will be in town Oct. 26 to Nov. 3, and will stay with host families. Winters said delegation members mostly will be local government officials, educators and community leaders whose goal is to observe local governments and democratic practices, culture, education, economy and industry.
City commissioners will hold a special meeting to be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday to consider a contract with OG&E Electric Services to bury downtown electric lines as part of Enid Renaissance Project.
