ENID, Okla. —
Enid High School students will take the public on a trip through the fantastic land of Oz Thursday and Friday, when they present the musical adventure “The Wiz.”
The production is a 1970s-era adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s classic, “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”
The cast of chorus and drama students will bring to life Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, Munchkins, crows, Kalidahs, Poppies, field mice, Emerald City citizens, Winkies, winged monkeys and The Wiz in this funky rendition of the classic tale about returning home.
David Prater plays The Wiz; Ivey Dyson plays Aunt Em; Sydnee Graves plays Dorothy; Michael Johnson plays Scarecrow; Makenzie Carpenter plays Addaperle; Evan Chermack plays Tin Man; Katherine Jones plays Evillene; Jake Scott plays Lion; Rachel Pyper plays Glinda; Taylor Scott plays The Gatekeeper; and Blake Recknagel plays Lord High Underling.
Munchkins, crows, Kalidahs, Poppies, field mice, Emerald City citizens, Winkies and winged monkeys are portrayed by the chorus and dancers.
Dancers are Chelsea Callant, Nicholas Holden, Mykala Irsik, Emily Maixner, Emily Outhier, Michael Walker and Bailey Wilson.
Chorus members are Beatrice Alcala, Charity Bliss, Brenna Bushman, Ashton Clemons, Cortnee Gephart, Ben Glaze, Daniel Hicks, Jaclyn Johnson, Kamika Ralstin, Josh Redd, Shaylee Scott, Katie Shewey, Katy Sullivan and Abbie Tillman.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the Enid High School auditorium. Admission is $7 for adults and $3 for students.
