Free parenting classes offered

Enid Counseling & Diagnostic Center is offering a free series of parenting classes addressing the following parenting dilemmas:

• Do you have a child who keeps misbehaving, and you are unsure about what to do about it?

• Do you have difficulty getting your child to cooperate with your requests or expectations?

• Do you want alternatives to spanking for disciplining your child?

• Do you ever feel like the way you are disciplining your child is not working as effectively as you would like?

• Does your child ignore your rules or make up excuses for not doing what you ask?

• Are you stumped about how to respond to your child when he or she talks back, pesters you about something he or she wants to do or whines about something he or she doesn’t want to do?

• Do you feel like you frequently get into a battle of wills with your child?

• Do you wonder how to interact with your child now to reduce his or her later risk for substance use, mental health problems or relationship problems?

• Do you want to know what mistakes parents commonly make in disciplining their children, and how to avoid making them?

These questions and many others will be addressed in five weekly classes held from 6-7 p.m. each Thursday evening. Interested parents can start the class at any time and attend as many or as few classes as they want.

This class is designed for parents of children ages 2-12, though many of the principles also apply to teenagers.

The course is free. To register, call 242-5544.

Enid Counseling & Diagnostic Center is located at 230 W. Maple.
