ENID, Okla. —
A Woodward woman was injured when her vehicle left the roadway and overturned in Harper County at about 7:21 p.m. Saturday.
Valerie Covalt, 51, of Woodward, was taken to Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted with back and head injuries. She was listed in stable condition.
According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, a 1990 Toyota driven by Covalt was northbound on Oklahoma 34 when she reached for a cellphone in the passenger floorboard.
The vehicle began to drift right, overcorrected to the left and went off the roadway. The vehicle then went into a broadslide and rolled one time.
The report stated the cause of the accident was inattention or other distraction inside the vehicle. Seat belt was in use.
