Enid teen detained on drug complaints after wreck

ENID, Okla. — A 17-year-old Enid teen is being detained on drug complaints after wrecking his motorcycle early Wednesday morning.

Enid Police Department officers responded at 8:21 a.m. to a report of a single-vehicle wreck in the 400 block of North 8th.

The teen, whose name is not being released because of his age and pending criminal charges, was riding a 1999 Kawasaki ZX600 southbound on 8th.

In the 500 block of North 8th, he ran the stop sign at 8th and Pine and continue southbound on Pine, according to an EPD report. A witness said he saw the teen run through the intersection, heard him speed up excessively and then heard the crash.

The teen was taken from the scene by Life EMS to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center with non-incapacitating arm and leg injuries.

The teen is being held on complaints of reckless driving, DUI-drugs, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without a motorcycle endorsement.

The teen was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
