ENID, Okla. —
Eight boys and girls from the Enid area were named local champions of the 2014 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship and have earned the right to compete at the district level.
Council 1044 in Enid sponsored the local competition at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church gym. All youth ages 9 to 14 were eligible to participate.
Nine-year-old boys champion was Jaxyn Ward. Caleb Meadows was the winner of the 10-year-old boys division. In the 11-year-olds bracket, Gabby Bartley was the girls champion, and Cody Wichert was the boys champion. Twelve-year-old winners in the girls and boys divisions were Zoey Reherman and Evan Runco, respectively. The 13-year-old girls division was won by Kassidy Diel and the boys by Levi Huston. The 14-year-old boys champion was Colton Wichert.
Winners will compete in the district competition 2 p.m. Feb. 9 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church gym, with the possibility of moving on to the state and national contests.
