ENID — A 32-year-old Enid man was arraigned this morning on a misdemeanor charge of negligent homicide for hitting a cyclist Aug. 5 in the 5900 block of East U.S. 412.
Richard Allen House II faces a possible fine of $100 to $1,000 and/or up to a year in prison if convicted of the charge.
House was driving a Fed Ex truck the evening of Aug. 5 when he told police the heat had gotten to him and he fell asleep, striking and killing Don Riggs, who was riding bicycles with friends.
Blood taken from House following the accident tested positive for marijuana. House told police he had smoked marijuana the morning of the accident.
House is free on $5,000 bond and was ordered to return to court March 17 for a bond appearance.
