Quakes hit near Medford area

ENID, Okla. — The ground was shaking in the Medford area Wednesday afternoon.

Three earthquakes were reported in a span of one and a half hours.

The strongest was a magnitude 3.6 earthquake that hit at 2:12 p.m. It was centered about 10.5 miles west-southwest of Medford, according to U.S. Geological Survey.

It was measured at a depth of about 2.5 miles.

The first was a magnitude 3.0 tremor at 12:44 p.m. It was in roughly the same area, also at a depth of 2.5 miles, according to USGS.

The middle quake hit at 1:01 p.m. and measured magnitude 2.6. It was centered 11 miles west-southwest of Medford, according to USGS, at a depth of about 3.1 miles.
