Chisholm Trail Coalition Walking Tour is Saturday

ENID, Okla. — Curious locals and tourists can hear stories about Enid’s history Saturday on a downtown walking tour.

Chisholm Trail Coalition’s Walking Tour will start at 10 a.m. Saturday with re-enactors telling stories about Enid’s historic past.

Errol Wofford, walking tour guide, said even locals who have lived in Enid for years are likely to learn something new.

“People who’ve lived here all their lives find it very interesting,” Wofford said. “We tell a lot of stories they didn’t know about the downtown area.”

The tour stops at 13 locations. Re-enactment characters come out to tell the stories that happened at each spot.

“The tour is for anyone who wants to learn about the history of downtown Enid and how our town got started from the land run,” Wofford said.

The tour is held on the third Saturday of every month until September. It is important to buy tickets ahead of time, because the tours only allow for 22 or 23 people, and they often sell out, Wofford said.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. For more information, call Soapweeds & Cactus at 242-2233 or visit the store at 122 N. Independence.
